Mood: Not enough time to do it all.
9th December 2007
Mt. Biking: Home - Ashridge
Wind Direction: W....N
Wind Stength: 2....4
Surf / Sea State:
Air Temperature: COLD
Sea Temperature:
Weather: Chucking it down
Max Speed:
Distance Covered: 39 miles (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)

I really wanted to go windsurfing, and too much to do to venture a 2 hr trip round the M25 down to the south coast. And the low pressure system over us today scuppered my plan. We have almost nothing all day.

So out on the bike - it had stopped raining. I punctured after about 5 miles. Great just what I needed, as it was chucking it down by now... Quick change and up to Toddington. I went right through the middle of Dunstable, not very nice.

But... a real treat was coming.. as I climbed up to Ashridge I saw a RED KITE (no doubt) in the field to my left. I was "sailing" on the wind from my right. It came over the hedge and was about 30' at the most from me directly in front. As I rode forwards - it hovered up the road as well. A flock of seagulls flew away as fast as they could. I 'followed' it for about 4 or 5 minutes before it cut right around the approaching woods.

WOW.

It started to get colder and colder when I got home at dusk I'd had enough...
